In collaboration with the Haiku Society of America, the Nick Virgilio Haiku Association is delighted to roll out the opening of the 2018 Nick Virgilio Haiku and Senryu Contest, accepting entries beginning the second week in January. The deadline for submissions is March 25th. You'll find the application on our home page shortly. Full contest rules and links to previous winners will be published at on the HSA site. Nick Virgilio Annual graveside celebration at Haleigh Cemetery, Camden, NJ
Join us to honor internationally known haiku poet, Nicholas (Nick) Virgilio (1928-1989) Bring your haiku to share. This annual event commemorates Nick Virgilio’s birthday and his legacy. (Nick’s actual date of birth was 6/28/1928.) ALL ARE INVITED.

NOTE: This is an annual event sharing haiku and senryu poetry with Friends of the Nick Virgilio Haiku Association at the gravesite of Nick Virgilio (only a stone's throw away from the grave of the poet, Walt Whitman) at historic Harleigh Cemetery. A reading and sharing of poetry at the stone podium, where Nick’s most famous poem is carved.

The Nicholas A. Virgilio Memorial Haiku and Senryu Competition for Grades 7-12
Founded by the Sacred Heart Church in Camden, NJ, and sponsored by the Nick Virgilio Haiku Association in memory of Nicholas A. Virgilio, a charter member of the Haiku Society of America, who died in 1989. The Haiku Society of America co-sponsors the contest, provides judges, and publishes the results in Frogpond and on the HSA Web site.
DEADLINE: In hand by March 25, 2017. Entries received after that date will not be accepted.
